Joseph Lodato
Joseph Lodato – Baritone

American singer Joseph Lodato is quickly establishing himself as a major artist on the international opera, recital and concert stages alike.  Having been awarded prizes by the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, Los Angeles Opera, Florida Grand Opera, Aspen Music Festival Opera Theater, and National Association of Teachers of Singing as both baritone and countertenor, he has showcased his artistic and vocal versatility and established himself a singer who thinks outside the traditional parameters of classical music.  Equally adept at and attuned to musical theater and jazz idioms, he has been presented most recently in concert with such renowned artists as Tony award winner Betty Buckley, jazz icon Lea DeLaria, and award winning composer and pianist John Musto, singing songs from the American Songbook spanning the genres of 40’s  American standards to present day popular songs. An aggressive champion of new works, in particular art song/recital repertoire, Mr. Lodato recently premiered portions of the new song cycle Dear Theo, based on the letters of artist Vincent Van Gogh to his brother,Theo, composed by Ben Moore. Mr. Lodato is also a passionate supporter of various charities such as The Trevor Project (trevorproject.org), for which he co-Executive Produced “You Are Not Alone” (youarenotalonebenefit.com) an extremely successful benefit concert in New York City starring Betty Buckley and major stars of Broadway yesterday and today; Sing for Hope, for which he appears as a donor artist presenting in-hospital recitals and room to room performances for hospital bound patients; and TheFATE.org, the Foundation for Autism Training & Education, for which he has done consulting and event planning.
