Soprano Amanda Squitieri originated the role of Beatrice Russo in Daniel Catan’s Il Postino  with performances at LA Opera, Bellas Artes in Mexico, Teater an der Wien in Vienna, the Châtelet in Paris, and the Teatro Municipal in Chile.  She sang Angelica in Suor Angelica in Ecuador, Catherine in William Bolcolm’s A View from the Bridge at the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome, Rose in the New York City premiere of Elliott Carter’s What Next? directed by Christopher Alden, Gluck’s L’île de Merlin with the Spoleto Festival USA in Charleston, South Carolina, at the Metropolitan Opera covering the role of Alice in the new Le Comte Ory directed by Bartlett Sher and Manon at Bard SummerScape in Noël Coward’s Bitter Sweet, as well as at the Metropolitan Opera covering the role of Alice in a new Le Comte Ory directed by Bartlett Sher 

Amanda has been heard at the Paris National Opera as Esmeralda in The Bartered Bride under the baton of  Maestro Ji?í B?lohlávek, LA Opera as Lisette in La rondine, the Opera Theatre of St. Louis as Anne in Sondheim’s A Little Night Music directed and designed by famed fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi, the  Michigan Opera Theater as Adina in L’elisir d’amore and Lisette in La rondine,  and Maria in West Side Story with Orchestra of Valencia in Spain. She also sang Micaëla in Carmen at the Jesi Festival in Jesi, Italy. An alumna of the Washington National Opera’s Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program, Ms. Squitieri performed the role of Esther Dudley in the world premiere of Scott Wheeler's Democracy, An American Comedy and Adina in L’elisir d’amore. She was voted one of Washington National Opera’s “Artists of the Year.” This prestigious award celebrates a young singer who has shown exceptional merit in his or her appearances with Washington National Opera. She has appeared many times at Washington National Opera in roles such as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, Zerlina in Don Giovanni conducted by Plácido Domingo, Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, Papagena in Die Zauberflöte, Tisbe in La Cenerentola, Rosita in Luisa Fernanda, and Olga in Act II of Fedora for the “Domingo and Friends 50th Anniversary Celebration.”  Amanda is a proud member of the LA Grand Ensemble, performing such pieces as the Mahler Fourth, Pierrot Lunaire and La vida breve.

Amanda has also appeared at the  Saito Kinen festival in Japan with Maestro Seiji Ozawa and has been seen at the Kravis Center in Palm Beach Florida performing her original Noël Coward cabaret.  Miss Squitieri was critically acclaimed for her recent performance of The Merry Widow with the Michigan Opera Theater along with soprano Debora Voigt, and for her performance of La voix humaine this past fall at the Boston Court in Pasadena, CA.
